More about the ET17 plywood-core walk-in kiosk:
The ET17 is a 12mm plywood-core walk-in kiosk measuring 2000mm wide, 500mm deep and 2000mm high, with full-height lockable double doors and an 18mm surface-treated ply backboard as standard. It shares the compact footprint of the single-skin ET13 but is built as a composite panel for a more rigid, more robust shell.
What does the 12mm plywood core add?
In plywood-core construction the GRP skins are bonded over a 12mm plywood core, creating a stiff sandwich panel with far greater bending and compression resistance than a single skin. The practical benefit is a wall you can fix heavy equipment to almost anywhere — not just on the backboard — with fixings that bite into a solid timber core, plus a more impact-resistant, better-insulated and more secure enclosure overall.
What is the ET17 used for?
The ET17 suits a full-height line of switchgear, metering or control gear on sites where the fit-out is heavy or the specification is demanding — substations, utility compounds and industrial installations that want the shallow 500mm footprint of a front-access kiosk with the robustness of a composite-panel build.
How is the ET17 delivered and secured?
It ships as a single unit, so forklift or Hiab off-loading is needed on site. The double doors take a choice of locking with stainless steel fixings and a weather seal, and the enclosure is finished internally with a fire-retardant resin. GRP is non-conductive and non-corroding throughout.
Is the ET17 built to last outdoors?
Yes — GRP doesn’t corrode, rot or degrade in UV, so the ET17 gives decades of low-maintenance service on exposed sites, with no scrap value to attract theft.
What colours does the ET17 come in?
Green (BS 14-C-39) or grey as standard — British Standard references, not RAL — with any custom colour to a BS or RAL reference on request. See our guides to British Standard colours and RAL colours.
Does the ET17 come in other sizes?
The ET17 is 2000x500x2000mm. For more depth in plywood-core construction, step up to the ET18 and the rest of the walk-in range; for the lighter single-skin equivalent see the ET13. For larger bespoke builds see our very large & bespoke enclosures.
