More about the WM1 GRP enclosure:
The WM1 is a wall-mounting GRP enclosure measuring 250mm wide, 140mm deep and 300mm high. It is moulded in a single piece from glass-reinforced polyester, finished in grey RAL 7035 as standard, and sealed to IP66 with an IK10 impact rating — built to live outdoors and take a knock.
What is the WM1 used for?
At 250x140x300mm it suits single and sub-meters, instrumentation and telemetry or RTU outstations, CCTV and communications nodes, small control and relay gear, cable terminations and marshalling, and irrigation or pump-status panels. Because GRP is naturally non-conductive it removes any touch-voltage risk, which makes the WM1 a sound choice on footways, forecourts and other public or wet locations as well as inside plant rooms.
How does it stand up outdoors?
It is self-extinguishing to EN 60695-2-1/10 and rated thermal class E150°C, GRP doesn’t rust, rot or corrode, and it shrugs off UV, rain, frost and salt air with very little maintenance — which is why GRP enclosures are a standard pick for coastal, water, rail and process-plant sites where a steel box would be rusting within a season. The IK10 shell resists impact and the material carries no scrap value, so it’s of no interest to metal thieves.
How does the WM1 lock and open?
Its door is hung on stainless-steel hinges and seals on a moulded gasket; a clear polycarbonate window door is available where the contents need to be read without opening up. It is secured with double-bit (3 mm) cam locks operated by a standard wing key as standard, with a stainless padlock hasp available where a site needs keyed-alike or padlocked access.
How is it mounted and fitted out?
The WM1 fixes to a wall on four external brackets, clear of the sealed area so the enclosure stays weather-tight, and a pole-mount kit is available where there’s no wall to use. An internal mounting plate (galvanised steel, polyester or insulating grade) drops onto the fixing studs and is specified separately so you get the right backplate for the gear going in.
What colours and sizes does it come in?
Grey RAL 7035 as standard, with green (BS 14-C-39) or any British Standard or RAL colour on request. The WM1 is 250x140x300mm; browse the full wall-mounted range for other sizes, or our floor-standing enclosures for larger plant.
